Describe Yourself:
Not exactly a heinous misanthrope-- just a victim of circumstances. I actually believe myself to be a fun, thoughtful, attractive, outgoing, adventurous person. I love outdoors activities, or even just being still and quiet outside; Nature is the spring in my clock, the nurse in my fever, the song in my heart, and the syrup of my wahoo! (Please tell me you love Tom Robbins too!) I will also pledge allegiance to music (esp. live!), exercise, reading, art, sports, and... well... anything new and interesting! I have a liberATED mind, which pushes my political leanings toward the liberAL (but not with a knee-jerk!). Of course, I'd love to find people who share all my interests and convictions, but I'm also a realist. No two people are ever PERFECTLY matched, and I think I have a large capacity for compromise. I even have one good friend who tends to vote GOP!
"So many gods, so many creeds So many paths that wind and wind While just the art of being kind is all the sad world needs." (Ella Wheeler Wilcox)
I was reminded of that li'l bit of poesy the other night while discussing some arcanery of current religious debate with a friend. Certainly, people have differences of opinion and philosophy. But, shouldn't we address the universally acknowledged ills of society before quibbling with the details?
Wow, re-reading what I've written here makes me wonder if I come across as stuffy and nerdy...? I can say in my defense that I'm not nearly as articulate in live conversations, and laughing my butt off is one of my favorite activities. However, like so many of life's other treasures, humor is an interactive prospect-- so, you'll just have to try me....

On Gather, I'm Looking For ...:
For the most part, I want friendship with souls that resonate on the same harmonic as mine. The life of the mind (introspection, exploration, creation) is definitely important to me. I love learning new things, experiencing thoughtful art, and discussing old ideas. But, lest you bookish hermits too readily jump for joy (and the "ping" button), you should know that I also relish opportunities to get outside the cerebrum! I appreciate the emotional symmetry-- the heart's balance to the head-- provided by physical activity, speed, music, adventure, and a fine pale ale! "Diverse" is a descriptor that aptly fits my interests and moods, but one thing that ALWAYS thrills me is being outside, preferably on a mountaintop or in the water.
